Deego is a self-taught abstract artist from the greater New Jersey & New York areas, that currently resides in Tampa FL.
Immigrating to America from Brazil at an early age, the inspirations behind his work are the by-products of his surrounding urban environment. His culturally diverse perspectives provide viewers a look into his complex mind.

These Paintings all carry several personal iconographies. One reoccurrence is the “Forced Grin” which plays the symbolistic example for humans natural instinct to deceive one another by faking their current physical emotion. The act of forcing a smile is the attempt to control the public perspective of self. See if you can catch some of the other reoccurring iconographies.  

His distinctive style is a sophisticated composition of bold colors and aggressive lines. Both elegant and restrained, his work pays respect to influences such as Basquiat, De Kooning, Kaws & Eddie Martinez.
